Equinox Magic

Me leading an Equinox ritual last weekend at Raleigh Women’s Art Collective’s wonderful Night of Female Excellence

First, a big thank you and welcome to everyone who did a ritual with me last weekend! I’m so glad you’re here.

It was wonderful to be with you all. I led 2 rituals last weekend at 2 different events, and connected with kind, open-hearted people at both. It felt pretty Wow, and made me feel hopeful about the world.

A reminder that if you attended and are coaching-curious, all attendees get 5% off (roughly $10) of Renewal, my session life coaching package.

Renewal’s a good way to see if witchy life coaching is for you, get some immediate support, and transform one central doubt or fear into a plan for moving forward.

An intro to this newsletter - I write about topics like overcoming people pleasing and moving through creative fear.

About half of the time will be short blog posts about those things. The other half are Village Witch’s corner, which we’re doing this week, so see below!

And then a mystery portion of the time, I’ll share my Patreon creations for celebrating the seasonal shifts.

Okay, without further ado . . .

Village Witch’s Corner

Win of the Week:

I recently finished working with one client, and in our last session we reflected on the changes she’d made through our work together. The first thing she told me in our intake session was that her mind was always noisy, filled with comparison and pressure she couldn’t escape.

In our final session we found that she had separated herself from that noise enough to move freely based on her wants and desires, and that she was capable of creating, on her own, an ongoing plan for how to manage it.

We’re not looking for perfection or purity: we’re finding empowerment and usable lifelong methods of freeing ourselves from doubt and fear.

Spell of the Week :

Take the time I need to become present, in spite of the clamoring voices that tell me to hurry up, get on to the next task. The stories those voices tell me aren’t true, but it takes allowing myself to detach from motion, which often feels “wrong”, in order to reach that clarity.

Question(s) I'm asking this week:

“What needs my attention now?” And then ask it again, 30 minutes later, and again. Not “What do I need to get done,” but “What needs my attention?” Sometimes the answer is my rabbit needs my attention, and I spend time on the floor with her. Sometimes the answer is eating needs my attention. Sometimes the answer is a work task that is important to my goals needs my attention - but only some of the time.

I avoided this question for so long because of the above-mentioned “wrong” feeling, the feeling that slowing down long enough to know the answer is irresponsible.

But when I operate this way, I get shit done faster, because it’s only ever the important shit, and it’s happening in the order that best supports me.

What I’m reading / listening to:

A lot of different stuff. Here’s a list of the content I’m consuming in chaotic rotation right now:

  • Woman World, a graphic novel by Aminder Dhaliwal: “When a birth defect wipes out the planet’s entire population of men, Woman World rises out of society’s ashes.” Featuring my favorite thing, a young girl who is obsessed with Paul Blart: Mall Cop

  • How to Meditate by Pema Chodron, the audio version

  • A Court of Mist and Fury, reread. And when I finish it, I think I’ll actually read on in the series this time

  • Stagtown, which I finished - incredible horror comic

  • Beach Too Sandy, Water Too Wet - this is what I’m listening to as I stretch / cook / drive these days

  • Garth Brooks Limited Series 5 CD set - doing a deep dive courtesy of my GB-obsessed (complimentary) friend

Wheel of the year:

It’s spring! Whether that means snow, heat, or somewhere in between, the days are officially longer than the nights and the world is waking up accordingly. Plants are bursting free from the soil, bugs and birds are back in the air, and here in NC, a layer of pine pollen coats our tongues. The spring equinox just happened, so it’s still a good time to tune into balance, and the clarity that seeing things from both sides can bring.
