Blue Moon Magic
Hello friends!
I'm trying out a new addition to my newsletter, at the opening: a review of where the moon is in its cycle, where we are in the astrological seasons, and where we are in the earth's seasons, and other witchy awarenesses.
It will be short and sweet, and connect us to where we are in various cycles. Here goes the first round.
Moon Moment
Moon: waxing gibbous, almost full
Next full or new moon: Full moon Wednesday, Aug. 30, 9:36pm EST.
Full moon name: the Corn Moon, for the harvest season crop, or Sturgeon Moon, named by native peoples for the fish that was abundant in the Great Lakes at this time of year. Both names signal abundance and harvest.
Corn fact: did you know that colonizers named corn "corn" because it was a western European word for "grain"? They were just like "this is a grain" and now, we call it corn.
Seasonal moment: we are in summer's gentle fade, and autumn's early cool breezes and abundant harvests.
Astrological season: early Virgo season
This coming Wednesday is not just the moon of August abundance, but also a blue moon, or the second full moon in one month. I'm not much for the Gregorian calendar in a lot of ways, but I do love how this moon's blueness amplifies the abundance it's already bringing to us.
This moon reminded me of my favorite Disney animation, Blue Bayou. If you've never seen it, it's four minutes of gentle strangeness and enchantment.

Now, imagine that we're out for tea together. We've just been chatting about the moon, and you've told me about where you're wanting to grow your abundance. It's been good to be together.
As we're checking our car keys haven't wandered away, I say, “Oh! Hey, are you free this Wednesday? At 4:30?"
Are you?
I would love to actually see your face, and to celebrate the Blue Moon together. I'm holding a free workshop Wednesday at 4:30-5:30 EST. We'll do spells, we'll ground, we'll emerge more deeply and juicily ourselves, with a plan for how to live Harvest Season most softly. Sign up below.
Love,
Isabel
