Clearing Spells

Clearing spells are among the bread and butter of spells I teach my students: they are a foundational way to clear the slate, to rinse off stagnant or unwelcome energy, and to get in touch with oneself.

The new Gregorian year is a wonderful time for a clearing spell because culturally there are so many narratives circulating about what we "should" be doing at this time: organizing better, exercising more, all in all becoming "better" versions of ourselves.

We can thank good old capitalism for this: if we're never enough, then we never stop striving, and we pour money into the things that will make us "better," hoping one day daddy capitalism will finally love us. (Too much? Too bad!)

Here are some common (and as a witch for the people I say that as a massive compliment) ingredients for a clearing spell:

  • Feathers

  • Bells or soundmakers

  • Salt

  • Breath

  • Tarot deck

These are largely air ingredients, as the element of air brings in clarity and understanding, but earth is in there too. I recommend combining however many of these call to you and putting them in the tangible container of a spell to start off your year.

If that's enough info for you and you're off to make your spell, amazing.

If you want to know more about what to do with these ingredients, Elemental Magic is where I teach the basics of the elements and their energies, as well as foundational Tarot and hands-on spellcraft.

I'd love to do a short Tarot pull for you to feel into whether Elemental Magic is a good fit for you - and I promise to be honest. First of all, I have integrity as a reader, and second of all, it doesn't help me either if you get in the class and realize it's not what you wanted. But if you're looking for a consistently healthy body, mind, and spiritual routine, without risking burnout, then schedule that 1-1.

I'd also just enjoy meeting you. Yep, you.

See you soon,

Isabel
